speedometer crapped out

Hi all. Have a 95 150xlt w/ a 5.0 and overdrive tranny. The other day I noticed the speedo quit and subsequently the cruise control stopped. It started up again 1/4 mile down the road. There were no potholes or sharp curves in the road, just smooth sailing down the boulevard. Well it did this several days w/ no noticible pattern and then stopped all together. The overdrive light in the gearshifter now blinks and the abs light on the dash is also on. The cables are securely attached to the tranny and the fuse is good. Any takers? Joe

my abs light would blink when the fluid got about a quarter inch below optimum ( i had a small leak in a rear line)... as for the od light blinking I'm trying to find that out myself.
