Question Ruff Run ...Stall... Dies .....,

OK...put on your thinking caps guys ...so far your 4 for 4 on what's been wrong with my truck ....lets try this one ........

I will be driving down the road , normal speeds , even on the freeway .... and my foot will be leval on the pedal ...( no Jacrabbitting it ) , and the truck will Surge in power........Like I'm getting on the gas and itgets up and goes ..just for a sec though .....then it starts running ruff......stalls and dies ......... The check Engine soon light comes on after that ............ I can go out later in the day...start it up and the lights off and it runs fine .......... I'm thinking it's water in the fuil........dirty injectors .... maybe a short that's heating up an cutting out ......... I'm no mechanic and have fixed everything thats gone wrong from you guy's help ......... let's make this 5 for 5 .......THX in advance to any ideas you can come up with .......

Oh yes the CamShaft Position Sensore ........ I replaced that about a year and a half ago ...suppose it could be that again .......but it seems a little different than last times symptoms ........I don't suppose there's any way to check it is there .....Funny thing is I got the recall papers a week ago from ford to have it replaced ...........

Mine did that with the throttle position sensor. When it is acting up, engage the cruise if you can. If it quits acting up, that points to the TPS.

I would go ahead and try and Diagnose if it your TPS Like Joe Said. But it wouldnt surprise me if it was you CPS. When the CPS acts up it can cause a VERY wide verity of issues, as we have seen here at FTE.

When I had my TPS problem the engine never died. It would just rev up and want to take off. Makes me think it's a little deeper than a TPS (CPS?).
Oh, Thanks Ed.

Careful with letting Ford put in a poor replacement CPS. Might call Clay at Riffraff or an IH dealer and see if they have a black one. Also what condition is the oil, fuel and air filter. If questionable, just do them to rule 'em out.

Oils Good ......Fuil filter replaced about 6-8 months ago.......Air could be replaced......but I don't think it's that ............ I don't think I'd let them touch it either ....I know there is suppose to be a better CPS on the market right now since there old one's where crap .........Suppose to be cheaper too ..........any idea's on price ...since I'm on a very limited budget right now since I'm one of those many thousands unemployed .............

If it were water in fuel then the WIF light would come on on the dash. Easy way to rule that out is to drain the fuel bowl, catch what drains and look for water. Clean the contacts of the TPS, and do the cruise control check. May also be your intank mixing chamber getting clogged.
OR, I am afraid to say that it may be even deeper and may be an IPR problem, and the only way to rule that out is to read the duty cycle and pressure with AE or another cabable scanner.

CPS? yes it could be, and that is a pretty cheap place to start.

Mine did something similar on the 01 350. Turned out to be some very bad oil and a pluged fuel filter.

But hey the dealership said I needed an IDM

With my TPS issues mine never did die. You might actually have more than one issue. Could be a UVCH issue, but that does not generally caust the surging.

I got it my CPS from ford ...so it may be one of the old one's that where crap ............ I'l double check the oil but I think it's good........ I'll check on the water in the system but I don't think it would make the engine surge ..............

A bad CPS will never make the engine surge, IMO. Just cut out.
I think it is a bad IPR or Injection pressure sensor
