I have been having a problem like this but it's only when I first get going, once i have ran it it stops. But what mine does is it starts fine then when I get about a mile up the road it acts like it's running out of fuel and dies I then crank on it until it starts then go on my way? I hope somebody can help!

Check your oil levals ...I had the same thing like that about 8 months ago .......I'm imbarised to say I let my oil levals get to low and apperantly they also help run the injectors for the fuil ( or something like that ) , but it's a start............

So would a dirty air filter cause my truck to stall out ......it's been a while since I've replace my 6637 but I never thought that would affect anything that much ..........

I'mabout ready to trade the freaking thing in for a Jeep ............. But thats a different forum ....... LOL.

Naw, air filter will not cause a surge. I am dealing with the same prob on my '01. Going to take the tank off Tuesday at a buddies shop and look at that danged sock to see if it is plugged. I have heard that the low sulphur fuel will loosen all kinds of garbage in the tank (like running veggie oil) and it will plug up the sock. Hopefully, I can do the tank mods while it is off and get rid of Fords better idea of a long fill tube and those damn snap on fuel lines to boot. If that does not stop it, Ed has a great price on both of the sensors (one on the HPOP and the one on the head for $325.00. A lot cheaper than $480.00 at the stealership.

Your air filter would have to be very dirty to affect cause your problems. You would also have lots of dark smoke. Still, it's a good idea to keep a clean filter.

HPOP = High Pressure Oil Pump
And it's always cheaper to keep and fix what you have unless it is totaled.
