What causes back pressure on a 94 7.3 F-250 turbo I just put a new radiator in because it was about to blow the neck off The first thing I thought of was the thermastat not opening all the way My uncle said it was a head gasket HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Bluecrew250,
Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.
Head gasket or possibly the valley pan gasket are the cheap possibilities.
Cavitation, cracked block and cracked head are the not so cheap possibilities.
Are you loosing coolant?
How much boost are you running?
Do you use SCA's in the coolant?
How many miles on the engine?
How much pressure and how fast is it building?
Dave Yes I've had to add coolant, im not sure how much boost just bought the truck in August but I think it is the stock setting what ever that is Is there any way to find out?I don't run any SCA's in the coolant Theres 127k on the engine Im not sure how to answer you last question I'll give it a shot I but the radiator in an filled it Drove it about 10-12 miles shut it of an raised the hood an there was water around the neck My guess was it came back up throw the over flow an just setteled there when it cooled off I check it an had to add about a quart of water
