Payload Question - FX4

I have FX4, supercab, 5.4, 7200 GVWR, 3.73. Manual states max payload is 1680lbs, Father-inlaw has some materials that weigh a full ton (2000 lbs). Will I be pushing it trying to haul this all in one trip?

FYI - the payload issue has been beat to death on a previous post - everything you never wanted to know:

Go look at your door sticke but prepare yourself to be shocked at the actual payload nuumber.

To answer your question yes 2000lbs is too much to put in the bed, go buy a trailer to haul that weight.

Just checked, and yep...I am suprised! It states only 1402. Not sure why it states 1680 in the book. I have 17" wheels, thought that would be in my favor. Kind of disappointing.
Thanks,

I also checked the long posting noted above.

My truck: 09 F150 FX4-4x4 supercab 3.73, 7200GVW, 145" WB
The way I read in my owners manual I can haul 2040 lbs
The payload for the regular cab same truck jumps up too 2960

BartStar,
Your truck is pretty much identical to mine. Look at the tire information on your driver's door to verify this. The posting noted above has a long....discussion about this.

I know I am being redundant with the other long thread.

Checked my wife's Honda Odyssey's information on the door and it's load is 1322. Granted, it is built for a capacity for 8 people but, I though my F150 would be much more. One of the reason I got the F150 was to stop hauling the boat with the odyssey.

Didn't do my homework as noted in the other thread. Regardless, the F150 is still within my hauling range that I plan on doing.

Looks like I will be making two trips with the father-inlaw. (not ready to purchase trailer)

Thats whats confusing about the rateings. They are not what people think they are. You are prob in the 1200-1400 range.

here's a idea the payload rateing brings you up to your max gross vehicle weight right

so if you take weight out of the truck as a hole in would increase payload amout with still keeping the same max gross vehicle weight

so being said reg cabs have the same max gross vehicle weight as a crew cab but a crew cab weights more so you get a lower payload

but as long you don't go over the rear axle weight rating, it won't break anything but you would be over weight and if stop could get in trouble

but my last 05 supercab i had 2500 lbs in the bed and never knew it till ii got weighted at the junk yard

Mr Silver05FX4 is correct, all we have to do is find out what the truck weighs empty and subtract that from 7200, and thats your max payload

well ford all ready did that its the number on the door but ! not to be smart

if say you start taking off weight like spare tire ...add maybe 150 lbs to payload or start taking out seat doors and everthing else not need for driveing , you could add that weight to payload

The best way to tell is look on your door sticker. It will tell your your exact payload. did you weight your truck bartstar?
