Remove the 4 shifter boot screws at the 4 corners of the plastic trim piece.
Roll boot up the shifter
(your not removing the shifter from the tranny adapter plate so leave the 2 13mm bolts on the shifter under the boot alone. However, if you have trouble aligning the adapter plate back up during install, you can remove them to make it alot easier.)
Remove 4 Allen bolts on top of the tranny adapter plate, I think 5mm.
Remove shifter and adapter plate carefully. There are 2 plastic alignment bushings in there that can fall in the tranny. But as long as you lift as straight up as you can, you will be fine.
Once it's out, verify your plastic bushings are there.
Add your extra quart.
Reinstall in reverse order.
It's really very easy, nothing is gonna fly out at ya. And for the most part, those bushings take some beating to get them to fall off. So you should be good to go.
As far as the fill hole that fluid drains out of when it's full, yes, it's there on the drivers side. I think it's like a 7/8 or 15/16 nut. The drain is directly on the bottom, and this one is just up above it on the drivers side.
Has anyone ever figured out how much lean to the passenger side the truck can be parked at to allow that extra qt to be added to the fill hole? Maybe park it with both drivers side tires on a set of ramps?
RubberDuck, was your overfill a large plug 3/8 drive female? I have a 3/8 drive female put a 1/2 inch long ratchet with 3/8 adapter and lots of force , its tight won't come out,,,,,,,,, right next to the plug is a smaly allen head bolt am thinking that maybe the allen head is the over flow?????
Thanks for your help......
Powerstrke , if I get the overflow plug out I will fill to the full level put the plug back in and then add the extra quart, no need to put the truck on a tilt...
this is why i always use a breaker bar to get mine off and even then i usually smash my elbow on the ground!!! haha. As cody said earlier, the fill plug is a 7/8" plug on the driver side. wouldn't think it would be tight enough to break a 3/8 drive, but some ratchets are stronger than others i guess. LoL
