what would happen if 16 qts of oil were put into the 6.0, i think that happened on my truck on its last oil change, some tell me don't worry about it, its a ford, others say the engine is junk now.
Check the oil level on the dipstick and report back with your finding. Please be specific regarding the oil level. Is it within the cross hatch marks? Above or below and by how much exactly?
Someone stating your engine is now junk is being quite dramatic.
its a bubble type dipstick and the level is above the bubble ill attempt to take a pic of it to show better,
i have a pic in my profile hope that will do
If i am seeing right looks like to me that you have oil all the way past the plastic (guage) area on the tip of dipstick....meaning as you stated that it was way overfilled....how much have you run the truck with this amount of oil???
The first thing you would notice (according to Ford TSB's) would be rough running. As I understand the explanations, the oil (when overfull) will aerate and this interfere's with the actuation of the injectors.
Your truck holds apprx. 18 quarts, so adding 16 at an oil change is apprx. 5 - 10% over (depending on whether you are a "14 quart refill person" or "15"). I can't see how this little extra amount would affect the pump performance curve to develop the extra pressure to affect seals. In addition, I have read the manuals (PC/ED, WSM), and watched 5 6.0L Forums for a number of years and never seen any warning of blowing seals from a slight overfill. IMO - drain the extra oil and you should be just fine.
