Fuel Problem?

So this morning i got in my truck and started it. It turned over and instantly quit. i did it a couple more times with the same result, and then i started it with the throttle half open. This kept it running, but as soon as i let off the gas it would die. the truck ran perfectly last night, so i am a little puzzled. fuel pressure regulator? any thoughts?

sounds like it is going to take some investigating. If this EFI, you can test the pressure on the fuel rail, there is a schroder (sp) valve, look in your manual but I believe it should be at 15 PSI when the key is in the ON position.

After that, check or replace your fuel filter. This is all assuming this is EFI. if those two things check out you might need to replace the fuel pump, whihc is in the tank on my 92 F150. I had an issue which was similar and it turned out to be a crack in a dime-sized diaphram which was in the fuel pump, only way to fix it was to replace the fuel pump.

good luck.

yes it is efi, and the fuel pump is unfortunately in the gas tank as well. the fuel filter is fairly new, but i will check it out, along with the fuel pressure. thanks.
