Hi I have a 96 F150 regular cab with a bench seat. I was wondering if it would be possible to put bucket seats in it an take out the bench seat. Ive never seen any like mine with anything but the bench seat but I hope ford by chance made some with the same cab style so that it would be a simple job.
mine came out of a bronco. you have to drill the center 2 mount holes on the inside of the seat frame, then use a large washer under the floor when you bolt them up. kinda sucks on the pass seat, because the cat shield is there. just remove it, then put it back when your done. make sure you get the inside seat belt from the bronco too, the angle it sits at is a little bit different than the bench seat. the bench seat ones will work, but it is easier to hook up if you use the bronco ones. I put the center consol in, and never fastened it down, it's been there forever, and has never moved. there is a lump in the foor where it sits, and kinda holds it from slideing. I used these seats in my 89 f-250 4x4, and my 82 f-150 4x2. best benifit is that they sit a little bit higher than the bench seat. 2 drawbacks are that the passenger seat does not adjust forward or backward, and when the 3rd person wants a ride, they have to sit on the consol
The best swaps I've seen for seats is from the 80-86 Bronco.
I'm not a big fan of the bench seat armrest combo, well at least the one in 88 anyway, the armrest just seems to be 4'' to low, but that may be due to fact I am 6'4.
If you are not too tall (I'm 5"8") (really 5'8.5", but who is counting )
You can get custom bucket seats made. Mine has a fold down center that can be used as a console or folded up to use as a bench. They come in leather, vinyl, or fabric. They come with a custom backet to fit the existing holes.
I am only a customer. I have no relationship with the shop. You can visit the factory floor and choose the seat style (10 types of buckets), fabric and color. They are in L.A. You are up in gold country? It would be quite a shlep for you, but if you are down here, you can look. You can also order of the web. If you are interested, I can dig up my info.
I converted my truck from bench to captain's chairs and I had to drill all 8 holes, none of the existing holes would line up. The floor pan is not marked or "ready" for the captain's chairs. The only thing marked in any way for the cc's was the carpet. Be sure to reinforce your floorpan where the bolts go or you will get cracking from the weight (ask me how I know).
As for the console, I used one out of a 2000 Superduty, I like it's cupholders much better.
I have to agree with jas88. I am in the middle of removing my bench out of my 95 and replacing with buckets from a 96. None of the bolt holes are even close. I am using 3" square tube to get the right ride height and even out the weight.
