electric brake controller
I use the Tekonsha Prodigy. It is easy to set up, and to change settings. Comes with good installation instructions. My trailer weighs 6000, has duel axles, brakes on all axles.

I installed the Prodigy in my F250. It was extremely easy. There is a plug under the dash that connects to the pigtail on the Prodigy. I used 3M Automotive Double Sided tape (from Walmart) to mount it to the recessed area under the cubby hole in the dash. It has stayed stuck through the hottest, humidest (is that a word), part of the Illinois summer so I think it will stay. I just didn't want to drill any holes in my dash.

I like the Tekonsha I have in my F250, and yes it is very easy to plug in. Once word of warning, based upon an educated guess...
Be sure the controller does not fall out of position. I don't know about current models but my 5 year old Tekonsha uses acceleration and tilt sensors. My guess is, if the controller falls out of position, it might make the brakes do something funny, like lock up or not work at all. Maybe the new ones are different?
Just a guess, but you don't want to rely on a guess when it comes to brakes.

wow Jim that is actually the best advise. I was using velcro to hold my controller on, and the velcro came unstuck and controller fell on the floor. It didnt do anything until i picked it up and slammed it back into the sticky velcro still on the dash. As I did it tripped the sensors in the controller, and locked-up the trailer brakes.
Scared the bejesus out of me.
Looking back, I should have slowed down and pulled over before attempting to reposition it.

Thanks. That worried me a little too, I tried three kinds of tape until I found one I was sure would hold it. I cleaned the dash with alcohol and covered every square inch of the top of the "pocket mount" that the Prodigy came with. I have about 5K miles on it in some hot humid weather and it is still solid. I will continue to watch it. I may screw it to the dash yet.

Just ordered the Prodigy . Based on the over whelming feed back form you guys . Get the truck this afternoon and probably hook up the controller on Tuesday . I am still not 100% sure how the thing works but I guess time will tell. I have the more basic electric setup in my '71 and it is a no brainer. I will keep you posted. thanks for that web site with the killer shipping!!!
