I use Howes but others use diesel kleen and others. If lube is all you are after 2 cycle oil works good.

The additives also clean your fuel system and have antigel in them. We used to use tranny fluid but quit when they started putting red die in offroad fuel.

Oh ok that make sence about the ATF. A lot of people use that arround here, but I wasn't sure. When I bought the truck the owners gave me a bottle of "Petrolabs Diesel Power". The bottle said Disperses water - Cleans injector system - Controls gelling - Prevents algae - Lubricates. Does this sound good? Should I stay with this?

I'm not familar with that one I use howes nearly all the time sometimes lucas in all my trucks when I use anything. They claim the fuel mileage differance pays for it and it probably does. These are mostly available at truckstops. Many on here use diesel kleen and like it I here it is available at wallmart I never see it at truckstops. There are several that does the same thing yours will probably be fine.

Diesel place does think much of Diesel Kleen or 2 stroke oil. They seem to really like soy biofuel.
I've used 2 stroke oil and Diesel Kleen for about 4 years now, truck runs excellent, but can't really compare it to anything else, because I've never tried anything else.
The rated Lucas in the cellar, I've used Lucas for years and swear by it. Maybe I need to try some new stuff.

personally, every time i use lucas i get problems with the fuel system. it drops my mileage, the fuel selector goes to whatever feed and returns it so chooses, pull from one and return to the other. BUT i know this is not a common problem probably just me... But i get good results out of the heet from osmellys...

i don't put anything in my 88, and never did put anything in it. and it still runs like new.
my opinion is that diesel fuel addatives are just another way to take a few more dollars out of your pocket each week.

The only ones on that list I can get locally are Diesel Kleen and FPPF.

I have used both and rate them about the same.

in my opinion now with the ultra low sulfer diesel fuel you should use something the sulfer is actually a lubricant and these engines were designed for the old fuel

I've heard Cummins engineers say the same thing. They said only add an anti-gel, and then only if needed.
That's the advice I've taken with my Cummins, it's never had anything added to it and it has never run anything but perfect.

On my IDIs I run Diesel Kleen, motor oil, ATF, used motor oil, used ATF...... anything I can get my hands on and I haven't hurt it.........yet anyway.

not true. what lubrication that was lost with the removal of the sulfur was replaced with additives at the refineries

I've read from all of the "EXPERTS" that the new fuel addatives actually lubricate better than the old diesel with sulfer did.
