Ok I am getting ready to put the motor back togather
do I have to change the 90 5.0 timing cover to the 85s is that only so ya have the mec f pump or is there a nother reason for it the only thing I see is a boss where the 85s timeing peice is and not one on the 90s (already know about the water pump)
so if some one can tell me this asap as Im going out to the shop bout an hour to get going on it

Also does anyone know what truck to look for at pull apart that would mosy liky have the 10 1/2 front dr shaft so I dont have to crawl under every one of them ( recovering from knee and back surg so its kind of hard to get down and back up) thanks again peoples

If you need to use a mechanical fuel pump then yes you need to swap timing covers, and you will also have to move the fuel pump escentric that is bolted to the front of the cam gear.

The rotation direction of the water pump may be different, which would require a different timing cover as well...

The water pump is diff because of the reviresd rotaion but the pump is a sealed unit so why would change of the cover be be needed

The transition from the water pump to the block is different - the ports are tapered and canted (see picture if the link comes through the site's filter)
