Coolant leak

I have a 2000 Excursion 7.3. I have been smelling collant for a while (4-5 months) at a stop. I finally found signs of a leak on the bottom radiator hose. It looks like it is being slung off the drive shaft pully from the radiating pattern from the on the hose. I do not see any leaks around the hoses, could this be coming from the water pump?

Could be the weep hole on the waterpump shaft. Very hard to see with the pulley on the waterpump. If that is leaking, a new waterpump is in your future.

Thanks for the "good" news. I will have to find time to replace that.

Yes, sounds like yours has given up the ghost. You might want to consider a t-stat and housing change and if your upper radiator hose goes through the serp belt, change it out for the style that routes around the belt. It's for the dual alternator trucks but will fit yours.

this is a cheap place to buy a pump online:

Northern Auto Parts: - Airtex Water Pump AW4114

Here's a nice replacement t-stat housing:

And NAPA has the upper hose - part# NBH 9066

I'm going to suggest washing it all off thoroughly and then using dye.
