20" spare wheel

I got the 20" tire option on my '08 crew,4x4. The spare didn't cross my mind until this spring when I lowered it to check the pressure to find an 18" tire on a flimsy looking wheel. I called the selling dealer and their response was, "you aren't the 1st the ask about this, but we don't convert the spare and if you do need to use it only use it on the front of the vehicle". I've been looking on the net and can't find anything other than the oem, but maybe I'm asking the wrong question. Are there any options in steel other than the oem in the 20"?

It's hard to believe that Ford expects you to run an 18" spare with your 20" wheel & tire upgrade... I would search eBay for a wheel that matches your current setup. That way, if you need to use your spare tire, it can be placed anywhere on the truck.

I have an 18" wheel too. That's how Ford builds them. And the spare's overall diameter is 1" less than the tires on the truck.

The 18" steel spare has been standard issue with the 20" wheels since they started offering them in '05. Back in '04 when 18" wheels were first offered you got a 16" spare.
