[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Nov-02 AT 04:20 PM (EST)]Tech: I have many of the Rory Gallagher songs. The Irish tour is great. I did'nt know he had passed on. What from? Alvin Lee did a real jammer of "Goin Home" at Woodstock. He always played great stuff. Technically he is very fast. Have you guys ever heard Jarma Kaukonen and Jack Cassidy do their Hot Tuna stuff? And Leo Kotke almost made me quit playing because he sounded like two guitars playing simultaneously. I could'nt believe my ears.
John Fogerty knocks me out with his version of the Screaming Jay Hawkins tune "I Put a Spell on You". It is masterful. Check it out.
Dennis: You just can't get good "album rock" anymore. Radio is all about commercials. I do find college radio stations sometimes play interesting blues stuff. Usually on a Saturday or Monday night. You gotta cruise to find it.
That was great! Been a fan since this summer, freind of mine got the complete studio recordings, now I got it too. They're my favorite band now, gotta love em!
I like listening to Zep and then going back and listening to all the original blues guys they "borrowed" from..
Check out the Robert Johnson recordings.."Travellin Riverside Blues"..done in a hotel room down south in the 30's...the Lemon Song is almost word for word. Lots of other examples as well.
But that's how music evolves.cool to see how it changes
and...we miss ya Stevie Ray! there's someone who could pump up a blues tune.
My local classic rock station has a 2 hour segment every night called "get the Led out" it plays a full album rock songs all classic rock. Its awesome, i never miss it. Gotta love the powerful riffs that page played for years. He is one of the best guitar players ever.
I can't listen to "Misty Mountain Hop" when I'm driving my X. I become speeding ticket bait under those circumstances.
Recently, I rented a VHS of a 1966 British film called "Blowup". It has about 90 seconds of the Yardbirds with Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck playing "Stroll On" (later remade into "Train Kept Arollin")at a London discotheque movie set. Like walking through a timewarp.
