I have a 1990 F-150 5.0L 4x4 auto trans. The problem i am having is no start. One day the truck runs good and now nothing!I went to start it the other day, turned the key and nothing happened.put the battery charger on,tried to start it and all it did was make this strange buzzing, grinding type noise.I changed the starter solinoid, tryed it again and same noise,it was coming from the side the starter is on.I have never heard a noise like this before. When i take the battery charger off nothing works,no blower motor, pwr windows, etc. What is draining my battery?I need some guidance,i can only afford to fix it my self and i am not to good when it comes to electrical.Anyone have idea's on what's wrong???
Your battery needs to be changed out then have charging tested also clean the battery cable ends.Maybe bring battery to parts store have it charged there and tested.
Thanks to all who replied to my post.61F250Highboy was right,it was the positive battery cable.Turns out it was the factory cable, had the ford stamping on it.Not bad for a 19 year old truck, but hey it's a ford that's why we love'em right!
So how often do you clean your battery connections ?
When you are changing your oil, and the bottle starts dripping oil, put it over the battery terminals and put just a couple of drips on each battery terminal. Do that every oil change, and that will keep most battery terminal problems from happening.
