on a 1992 f150 is there any type of clutch safety that makes it so you have to push the clutch for it to start? my truck isnt starting and i have to touch the solenoid ends together even though it is a brand new solenoid. i think the clutch safety may be preventing it from starting with the key (if it has a safety).
Look above the pedal for a notched white plastic shaft.
There should be a set of contacts in a little 'carriage' attached to that.
In my truck when you depress the clutch pedal the arm pushes against the contact and completes the connection.
You may need to adjust this farther up the shaft or check the assembly for continuity.
yeah i climbed under the dash and didnt see any type of switch at first but i did it again and now i see what your talking about. i disconnected the switch and jumped it, so now i dont have to jump the solenoid anymore. i guess i need a new clutch switch. -thanks
