THANKS THIS SITE IS REALLY NICE AND EVERYONE SEEMS LIKE PROS>
I recall that my owners manual said NOT to use mercon V. Only to use mercon. Then after a couple years Ford stopped making mercon and changed their minds and said mercon V was OK. There was a lot of discussion on here at the time. Since I haven't heard anything more about it i guess the mercon V was OK. But just in case I continue to use mercon which is available from NAPA. At least I hope it still is as I'm due a change in 5000 miles. Considering how much towing I do, I've had good luck with my tranny. 145,000 miles with no problems. I'm not changing anything and will continue to use mercon. Just my 2 cents worth.
Ford changed MERCON V to be compatible with the 4R100.
Ive always wondered what exactly they "changed"?? I used Mercon in my 03 but now with my recent purchase of an 02 and wanting to add the transgo kit I might go with MerconV or Mobil1, dont know yet????
