Super Duty section rocks...

As most of you know, I do all my own truck maintenance and always search here before I get started to find out any "special tools needed" "part numbers" "etc. etc.". There is always loads of great info and feedback. However, my wifes Mazda Tribute (sister to the escape) is in need of a CV axle shaft replaced so I went to that forum to search and ask if anyone had done this yet. I have changed several on other vehicles in the past so I know how to do it. No response from those guys. They are all just talking about stuff like "do you like your roof rack" What kind of mpg to you get" that kind of stuff. All in all I just wanted to say I'm glad I have you guys to go to for the tuff stuff. I will have to post the step by step procedure back to those guys when I am done in case any of them are willing to step out and DIY their own someday. Sorry for the long post .

I agree! Great forum with a wide variety of knowledge. No matter what you're wondering about... it seems somebody here knows the answer!

I love reading all the new posts/replies in the SD section as well. It's becoming quite large, however (2000+ pages of threads). I think it might benefit from an implementation of sub forums or some sort of structural orginization. Like Super-Duty being the main forum, then sub forums of 5.4L, 6.8L, 6.4L, Exhaust, Performance, General, etc....

Na, we have all those subs already, but nothing like coming in here and having all this great info that spans many models and years, and all the experience that is found here in one place.
ROCK ON!!!!

I have the same experiance when I was looking up stuff for my sister's RDX and my g/f's MDX. It seems like none of the posters there liked to get their hands dirty. Their posts were about the same as the ones your talking about except they added stuff about stereos and the like in there for good measure as well.

I changed a CV shaft a couple times on a Subaru. I didn't have a book. Just dug in and figured it out. First one took a couple days, off and on, maybe 3 six packs in those days. Second one was faster, two six packs.

The treat was in the front end of an old CJ - 5. Had to have a spreader and it just popped out. Years ago. Money was real short and time was real long!

I find them fairly easy. No more difficult then any late model domestic.

Other than having no room to work and in most cases removing a lot of stuff that isn't related to get said part out the imports are not that bad but parts are a crap shoot some parts are extremely expensive and it seems that each model had a different part. Had to change a master cylinder on my gf's honda that year car had 5 different potential parts for the same engine..... One would think that is ecessive.
