Good/Bad news

Started workin' on the '60 cab today. Good news is that I think I can fix the floorboards without a spendy pre cut patch. The bad news is that I have no cab supports (they are spendy!). The lower part of the drivers side door pillar is hangin' on by a thread. Anyone know of any parts places that may have a pillar or is this something I'm going to have to try and fab up myself.

I started my resto about 3 yrs. ago and didn't find any replacement pillars so I just made my own panels. The hinge bucket was in good shape so I just made the lower part. You could also look for a Cab with good pillars might be pricey. Just my 2 cents.

I have the same problem,, no replacement cab supprots. I am doing the same as Kurt. My buddy and will fab our own. Over the last year we have gotten pretty good with sheet metal. I did spend the $ for the new floor boards and other SM for the cab.

Good luck

I've been workin' on it this morning, The hinge pocket is still solid so I'm fabin' up a piece for just under it. Then i'm going to make another brace inside the pillar for extra support. keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

I have the same issues with my '60 but haven't started on them yet. Would be interested to hear and see your progress.

I welded in a new patch for the pillar. That stiil seemed too flimsy so I built a bracket that is welded to the hinge bracket, pillar patch and a new patch for the step/rocker panel. it's solid as a rock now. I just have to fix the rest of the cowl.

That was just like mine on my truck. Patch looks identical to what I made for both sides. The cab supports you mentioned are those the front cab mounts or the middle ones? If they are the front ones I bought mine from a guy in one of the Carolinas Classic Fabrication.com they were around 150.00 with shipping. They weren't exact copies they were flat the entire length no step like the originals. Only the lower half of mine were bad so I just cut them and butted them to good part.

Front cab mounts, both of mine are gone. Got them on order. Maybe this weekend I can get back to it ( if the parts get here ).

Looks pretty good under there. Where did you get your mounts from?
