How much can I tow?
I had a 3500lb horse trailer on it and could not even tell it was back their-braking, cornering, accelerating, and tonge wieght. So i'm guessing at leat twice that. They do'nt make truck like they used to.
Thanks,
Dustin
drive train-390 4v holley,9.6 to 1 comp and dual exhaust,
np-435 4 gear,3.54 gears. drop hitch and it will tow
5500lbs maximum if I want insurance to be valid if I crash.
must have the trailer brakes, think of having 7000lbs pushing
on your 150 at 60 miles an hour while your trying to slow
to 25mph to turn A hairpin corner going down hill.and your truck
weighs 4200lbs max, with no trlr brakes, you only have 3/4 ton
brakes on the back. If you look in the ford manual youll see
that a 360 v-8 is required on anything over 8100gvw hence the
300 six is to small and provides very little hold back value
even with 3.73's. The 150 chassis is also not as stable since
250's equiped for towing have sway bars.Ive been in a truck
with 300 six which was equiped for towing, factoery rating says
6000lbs, but we only had 5500(there was probaly a 1000lbs in the box)
and that thing was in 4 wheel low 1st and stalling on hills if the
rpms were lost. almost had to back down one hill to get going agian.
that truck had 69 000 kilometres or so (45 ooo miles about)
that's my 500 cents! I just couldn't beileve how freakin gutless
that 300 was, ever since then we tow with a 350 super duty
w/7.3 litier deisel.

trip inspiered my dad to buy a $50 000+ 350 for
his work because he wasn't very happy with the
250's capbility at all, He thought he would try one out,
he did... and now he's back to 350's.
