Question 89 f150 custom

i have a 89 f150 custom with the 4.9l 300ci. straight six now the other day i was coming home from work and my truck was running like crap it was acting like it was starving for fuel an after i replaced the fuel filter i discoverd that it was my catylatatic converter was clogged up so to temporarily fix it i put knocked holes in the converter since i cant afford one at the time now it runs better but it lacks the performance that it had before this happend it wont get up an go as fast as it would before and when i put it in reverse it runs really bad but not in the drive gears does anyone have any ideas what it could be? thanks

you might have plugged the muffler up with the catalytic converter inside pieces by punching holes in it. i did the same thing ended up taking muffler off pipe and muffler was full of broken pieces of catalytic converter insides. good luck

yea thats what i was thinking cause it barely has any exhaust coming out of the tail pipe now but i have no way of taking my muffler off short of cutting it off of there an the thing is its a fairly new muffler the guy i bought it from put one on about 2 years ago any suggestions on cleaning out the muffler with out cutting it off?

No! Due to the way the muffler is designed with baffles and all you can't. You can get cheap pipe couplers and clamps for a quick fix after you cut it off.
