When deciphering payload in the owners manual there is reference to "Super Cooling". Does that mean just the larger radiator or both larger radiator AND transmission cooler?
Thanks
I am trying to figure out exactly what the difference is from the stock transmission cooler and the "super cooling". The deeler cant tell me and I do not want to ruin the truck. It definatly has a trany cooler, but is it the uprgrade, how do you tell? I do not have the class III towing package (only one in North America), but I live in CO so I have the high altitude emmissions. Same with the radiator, how do you tell if you have the "super cooling"? My truck is an 02 F150, 5.4L, auto, 3.55 limited slip, short box, 17" wheels. Levi
I'm not totally sure what he super-cooling package consists of but my F250 shows the Tow Package on the sticker. What I believe are the major componets are the following(what's on my truck). Large radiator, tranny-cooler, oil-cooler (similar to what was on the 69-71 CJ-Drag Pack equiped cars) and I believe power-steering cooler line. My truck also has the HD brakes which in 89 consisted of dual piston calipers instead of single piston on the front and 3" wide brake shoes on the rear instead of 2.5" wide. Deen
Deen, I believe my truck may have the same brakes, but am not sure. Haven't looked. Are they a part of the towing package, or a separate item? thanks for any info.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Nov-02 AT 06:48 PM (EST)]I finally got fed up with the dealer, so I went to see what the difference was from the Super Cooling that comes on the Class III Towing Package. I looked through the dealers stock and every F150 with an auto with the 5.4 L had a trany cooler on it. The trucks with the Class III towing package, which is said to have the super cooling have the exact same tranny cooler and radiator that I have without the package. It looks like they are charging $350 for a reciever and 7 pin wiring. I can get that done with brakes for under $250, installed. So, it looks like the tranny cooler sits in front of the radiator on the pasenger side. The power steering cooler is on the drivers side in front of the radiator. The air conditioner is behind the radiator. Do you all have as much of a problem trying to get awnsers out of you dealer. I am not impressed with their response and knowledge. I love Fords, but man it is a pain to deal with the dealers. Levi
