I recently replaced both my rearend and speedometer cluster. The speedometer is now reading about 7% fast and I don't exactly know how to fix it. I went back through the archives of this forum and found threads that addressed one or the other but not both. I also saw threads about tire size and how to compensate for them but my tires are stock size. My truck is a 95 F150 2WD.
go to the junk yard where you got the rear, and get the speedometer gear out of the same truck you got the rear from. you have installed a different ratio rear than the one you used to have
wow your right. I just climbed under my boy's 93 to check it out. I changed the rear in this truck several years ago, with a rear from a 89. I thought the sensor was for the abs.his truck worked out ok. I wonder if there are different sensors for different rears?food for thought. I guess I'm getting old, and not keeping up with all the modern changes.
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. We changed the rear in the neighbors 96' a few years ago and had the same problem. As a last resort we disconnected the battery for a while, and when we hooked it back up the speedometer worked as it should.
