hello everyone im new to this forum and im not sure how it all works, i have a 2001 f250 7.3 and i was wondering about a couple things. First where can i find needle bearings for the back side of the bearing hub. im not sure if thats the proper name. Also any ideas where is the best place to find axles or even the complete front end at a fair price
From what you are asking, I am assuming that your hub needle bearings dried up and took your stub axles with it.
If that is the case, chances are that you have metal flakes from the carnage infiltrate into your main hub bearings and will drastically shorten their life. Also, the axle seals are most likely the reason the needle bearings went out.
I would suggest that you completely rebuild the front hubs if this is the case. New axle seals, dust boots, unitized hubs and stub axles. The new unitized hubs come with new needle bearings.
You can pick up new hubs at AZ or most local auto parts but your may want to check with the PARTS-GUY (Ed) here who is an FTE sponsor or Powerstrokeshop.com has a kit that contains most everything you will need except the stub axles.
