I really wish I was working on the 79'. The truck I'm working on isn't in my signature.

Last summer I picked up an 83' F250 4x4 6.9L. I bought the truck just for the motor....which was supposed to end up in the 70's cc. Well, the body on the 83' was about as rusty as they come, the brakes were bad and the clutch was worn out. It ran like a top and drove great...so when it started to snow I fixed the brakes and decided it would make a good winter beater.....then I started to like the truck.

I ended up moving and used the 83' to pull a trailer loaded with my CC and pulled it 4 hours to my new home....it did an amazing job...even with a failing clutch. Then shortly after moving I found a parts truck on CL that had a rust free body. Picked that up for a few hundred bucks.....swapped it out and it looked like a new truck...then a new clutch and the new ATS aurora turbo later and I can't imagine not keeping it together.

Since I've picked up a D60 front end and a D70 rear (swapping right now) and now I've got this zf6/tranny on my radar......

It's a never ending project, and of course never inteded to put as much money or time into it as I have. I love Ford trucks and I wish I had more of them. It's a stress reliever for me and it keeps me busy and out of trouble.

If you guys want pics of anything I've done so far let me know, i've got before and after pics saved if your interested.

-Mike

If you don't mind, put those pics in your gallery and I'll be all over them. I have about 100 pics from various members galleries on my comp for future ideas and future designs.

The input shaft is also larger by quite a bit.Seems like a guy could find a clutch that would work but for some reason there is an outfit in oregon that cuts them down and resplines them to use with a 7.3 or a dodge. They also cut down the output shaft and then a 1356 tranny will bolt up let us know how it all works.

I've thought about putting a ZF-6 in my '94 and getting both ends of the shaft turned down by the company starmilt mentioned, seein' as how they're in my state.
I shouldn't have to worry about speedo problems as my speedo sender is on the rearend.

I'm pretty sure the flywheel and clutch from the power stroke will bolt up to the IDI

It is possible if so it would be cheaper. the article I read mentioned they were popular for dodge conversions in our pickups maybe it just won't work on a cummins without turning the inputshaft down.
I would like to have one in mine with my GV behind it and 4.56 or maybe 4.88 gears.

I know a guy in Portland who puts Cummins in Fords almost as a full time job. He prefers to use the ZF-5 or 6 with an "adapter" rather than go to all of the trouble of swapping in an NV4500 or 5600.

The OP said something about it bein younger than a 99, which the 88-97's had the ZF-5, the 99-current have the ZF-6. But I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and surely if says its a 6 speed its 6 speed

OH crap I get ya starmilt, sorry, I'm not all here in the head I got my wisdom teeth pulled Friday morning (2 impacted, the other two were starting to come through), so I'm just passing the time and pain with FTE.

So, if I say anything else goofy, just disregard it.

I didn't know they did them every week, but yeah I've stopped by and gotten some ribs from them before. I believe it was last 4th of July.

What day of they week/time do they do free barbeques?

I really like our B-line. For 55 bucks they will change my oil, grease everything with a zert, check all items that the smokey's will pull you over for, and vacuum my carpet.
