Hey guys, haven't posted for a while. Over the winter I removed the 302 from my 82 f150. I rebuilt the top end along with checking the bottom end and installing a new oil pump. I have the motor back in and am having trouble with some wiring. I tried to start the truck and it clicked. It sounded like the solenoid mounted to the firewall. I removed the starter and still have to get it checked, but I have a large black wire that I cannot remember where it goes. Any help, pics, diagrams, etc. will be appreciated. Thanks
Dave
How large is the black wire? The same size as the battery cables? Is it located on the passenger side front corner of the engine area? If so, that's the ground cable to the engine block, and that would explain why the starter is not working. It should bolt to a clean spot on the engine block up on the front corner down low.
Dave, thanks for the reply. Where would the other end go? I assumed it went to the frame. Another question, what would make my rebuilt engine crank over real hard and slow. I killed my old battery and bought a new one. Put it in the truck hoping it would fire right up and it still cranks hard and slow. I am thinking it is either off time or the valves may be to tight. What are your thoughts? I rebuilt this thing hoping for a better running truck then I had and now I am not sure I got everything right. I am real good at second guessing myself. Thanks for the replies.
