dads 95 psd auto 2x4 he went to wal mart truck ran fine came out and it would not start. called the local mechanic replaced some parts (dont know what) now mechanic says coolant temp sensor? is reading 265 degrees on a cold engine. he cant figure out where it is located thank you for any help
1st, fire that mechanic, especially if he can not locate the coolant temp sensor. Coolant temp sensor is located on the top of the water pump next to the neck where the upper radiator hose connects. This has nothing to do with the truck starting.
2nd, does the tach move while cranking? If not replace the TPS.
3rd, if the tach moves, (and even if it does not move) check the under hood fuses, espcially # 22 & # 9. Replace if blown, (if # 22 is blown, diconnect the fuel heater, 2nd plug down on the drivers side of the fuel filter housing).
4th, check the oil level.
5th, let us know what the truck is doing and we will get you back up and running
thanks plowhand for your reply he checked fuse #22 now hes gonna check #9 and see if the tach is moving. he is helping the well drillers right now but he will get on it a little later. dad is a mechanical genius(old dozers and tractors) but the computers and sensors are a different animal.thanks again
