So with the Edge monitoring those spots, trans, EGT, engine oil etc.... what are they not as accurate as a set of gauges?
It reads from the computer, which is not as accurate.

I would say gauges or exhaust/intake 1st. Both of these before a chip. I have a firm belief in keeping it cool.

Although I'm the one guy on here doing everything (turbo, IC, Trans Cooler) before the DP Tuner.

Hit up Riffraff Performance and he can work with what available funds you have and work you out a nice deal.

Good Luck

Andrew

Hey Chad. I would start with the gauges first. You know the boost reading on the edge is not right. As said give Clay a call, his number is on his site. I don't know how much $$ you are willing to spend, but we can help you spend it all. . Here is Clays link. Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts

Yes, because your stock exhaust has only a 3" downpipe. If you purchase a new 4" exhaust, it'll also have a 4" downpipe, which is about all you can fit in there. It'll make a dramatic improvement on EGTs. 5" will only make a different sound.

I would keep the Edge for monitoring. If you have the pyro probe, it should be as accurate as any other gauge, but since the other parameters read off the OBD port, they won't be.

You need to build a good base for a good chip. Intake, exhaust, gauges, Shift kit/valve body, tranny cooler, HPX line, etc. There's a lot of little things that can be done that will make your engine run smoother, quieter and more efficient. The chip is definitely the best part, but if the truck isn't set up for it, it can be the worst part. And since you already have the Edge, personally I would get that stuff done and run the Edge, and when cash allows buy a good custome tuned chip.
What don't you like about your Edge? I know it won't be as good a a custom tuned chip, but it's got to be better than running the truck stock? I know they can make a Duramax run hard! Even put me to shame.

As mentioned before, if you can, get your bills paid off .I've got a few credit cards that I got paid off a year or more ago and have been keeping them that way. It's a great feeling knowing you don't have that debt. Also, all the cards are raising their interest rates, so it'll be costing you more to keep that debt.

Good luck with your mods, there's plenty more ways we can spend your money!!

It's not that I don't like the Edge.... It's just that I rode in Rick's truck (Thanks alot Rick) The Edge programmer is much improved over stock (night and day) but the DP is much improved over the Edge (night and day!!!) So I'm torn but thanks for all the input and I'm about to pay off those devil cards, I mean credit cards, and I'll just go from their. P.S. I was planning on using Clay anyways b/c he was more than willing to help when I had my compressor wheel crisis. THANKS CLAY!

I won't argue with you there!!
Good luck with your decision. Do your research and shop around, there are plenty of good deals to be had!
Pretty much anything you do will make an improvement on what you already have, which is already one of the best trucks out there!!
