6.0 PSD question

I'm changing back to OEM air filter canister this weekend, and I'm new to diesel and turbo. Is there anything I should do while I have it out or any precautions I need to take in the process? Any input is much appreciated.

Thanks,

TAS

I did the same thing last summer, replacing a K&N for OEM. I found the process of putting the filter into the rear housing a royal PITA. The gasket made it extremely hard to mate the two together so that I could clip them. It could just be that I'm a wimp, though. Anyhow, it is pretty straight forward to do.

The only issue I had is that the under hood light bulb broke off since the K&N sat too high. What I found was that there is a rubber boot coming from the intercooler, I think, that resides right below the front intake cover. If the bolts for this are turned up it causes the filter housing to sit this way. I don't have deep well sockets, so I couldn't move mine properly.

Had my OEM out last weekend to work on the CCV re-route. I took the element inlet housing and trimmed the air inlet opening "bell" on the right side. It allowed me to move the element inlet housing another 3/8" forward into the radiator support; just enough to allow the element to drop in with little problems. Also makes it easy to remove the element.

I also greased the rubber seal of the filter element where it attaches to the element outlet housing. My $0.02.

Good idea, I'll try that if I have problems.

Thanks for the replies!

This project went well. My neighbor came over to see how my projects were going this weekend and offered to give me a hand with the air filter canister knowing I was a little concerned about it. Well this one was so easy I didn't even see how it went in there. That thing was in and done before I could even get the mess picked up from the fabrication of the spare tire mount which took 6 hours and 4 trips to ace hardware.

While it feels great to get these things done before it gets hot here in Az, the bad news is I found a K&N air filter in the old canister.
