I have been sitting on a Moose pump for over a year now and my goal is to try and put enough boost into this motor to make black smoke impossible. Probably won't get that much air in there but I am going to try.

On the subject of high power IDI's, does ARP make a stud kit for the main bearing caps?

call hypermax enginering, they have alot of high performance bottom end parts for the idi's, another thing you need to do is copper coat the intake and exuast manifold gasket with spray on copper coating and make some studs to hold the intake and exaust maniolds down, how much boost are you wanting to run?

Plan on studs for the intake and exhaust manifolds, the gaskets in those areas were never meant to hold boost pressure.

Right after I put mine together when I started running it a bit harder, I blew the valley pan gasket.
When I tore it down I also found I had toasted the exhaust manifold gaskets.

Header wrap on the up pipe and cross over does a lot to decrease heat loss.
And the exhaust connections at the exhaust manifolds and the Y pipe also can use gaskets once the boost goes over 20 PSI.

Liberal coats of Permatex High Heat Copper Gasket Maker Spray on both sides of the valley pan and exhaust manifold gaskets will help with the boost leak problems.

I am running around 25 PSI with .040 off the pistons, Sealed Power hypereutectic pistons.
Even at 25 PSI, an intercooler would come close to eliminating most of the smoke.
I am running a modified 7.3 turbo IP and DPS Stage 1 injectors with ram air feeding the turbo through a stock ATS filter box.
When the temps go below zero, with the ram air the air is still cold enough to almost eliminate any smoke.
At 80 degrees outside, high beam headlights look like parking lights in the mirror whan I stand on the throttle.

High performance bottom parts. I can see arp rod bolts and balancing and maybe a balancer. So what else are they offering.

Thanks for the info on the studs for the intake and exhaust. I hadn't been thinking of that but it makes perfect sense. As far as the hypermax stuff goes this is kind of a budget build. I know budget and twin turbos are mutually exclusive. I am treading on thin ice so to speak but I am not cutting corners. Just being very careful to not spend money where I can do something myself.

I suppose I can get the dimensions of the stock crankshaft main bolts and see if ARP has a stud that will work in their place. As for the intake and exhaust studs I believe I can handle those myself.

Today I received my new pistons. They are Federal Mogul .040 over new in their box. I got them on ebay for $200 BIN. I felt good overall about the deal. That was before I opened the box. After I opened the box I was very excited about the good deal I got. They have coated skirts with the sealed power emblem in the coating. If I am not mistaken these are the same pistons hypermax is selling fro $650. So yes I am very excited. I would post a picture but my wife has hidden my camera again.(put it away somewhere)

Next week I will get them turned down .050 off the top and then hopefully I'll be getting my block honed soon after.
