Does anyone know a source for a 12 volt ballast for a florscent light? I have a 2 bulb florscent light fixture in the bunk of my '07 Peterbilt. I have changed the bulbs, but still the light is not as bright as it should be. A new light at Pete is $250, but they do not have ballsts available. I 'm looking for a source for a ballast for a 12 volt sysem - any suggestions or Ideas?
Tried the RV dealers todayplus a 3.5 hour search online, but no joy. Found several ballasts, but was told that they would not work in a Grakon made light, they would work only in their lights. Seems odd that the same size light with the same number of tubes, the same tube number that their ballast will not work in my light. Can anyone explain that to me?
I have never seen a bright bunk lamp in a Peterbilt, and we have 15 379s at work. You might be better off with an inverter running an under-cabinet type 110v fluorescent.
Fordsix - got an apu for when parked, but light is usually bright enough to sit on bunk and read. Talked with several mechanics at different fleets that run petes and all have said that the lights are prone to dying ballasts. You would think that since you can buy the buld, why can't you buy a ballast for the light?
Oops!! Forgot , talking about truckshere and truckers have money to burn - yea righ!!!
