Its not the fuel pump. You would have driving issues.
Does not take much fuel pressure for a PSD to start.

Get a realtime scan on it to be shure. Iam not the type to throw
parts at something praying its the fix. Odds are its the IPR.
This does not rule out inj o-rings.

I see ipr's on flebay go 120.00 area.

The issue is elevating.
Changing from hard start to no start problem.
Oil hot is thinner than oil cold.
The hot thin oil cannot build pressure to start the motor.
I would bet that if you drained the hpop and filled it with
cold oil it would start. You will know if it starts in the morning
(cold soaked). Be shure the hpop is full. You can deplete it
cranking the motor.

The IPR valve determins how much oil goes to the drain or the injectors.

Here's what the IPR looks like

The nut on the back is a tin nut, and thats the part you'll see sticking out of the very back of the HPOP. Take that tin nut off, and the gold electrical cover will come off, exposing the IPR.

I you'll need an extra deep socket to get it off...the size is escaping me right now.

Here is some other info that may expand your thoughts on the issue.

IPR: Injection Pressure Regulator Output; The PCM controls the high pressure oil system by varying the duty cycle of the IPR. The IPR controls the oil bypass circuit of the high pressure pump. 0%=full return to sump (open valve), 100%=full flow to injectors (closed valve). The PCM monitors the system with the ICP input. The PCM can control fuel delivery to the injectors by increasing the IPR duty cycle which increases fuel pressure through the injector nozzles.
