I was just wondering if anyone on this forum has experienced and EXTREME speed wobble with their F-350? I have a 6" lift, and 275/85?/18 tires. Not big by any means. I removed my aftermarket steering stabilizers (2) about 2 months ago. I just thought they were in the way and with the small tires I am running are unneccesary. I hit about 3 bumps in the road in close succession. When I got into the wobble it felt (and sounded) like I blew a tire in the front end. Then the truck shook uncontrollably from about 120km/h (80mp/h?) to about 50km/h. Then disappeared. I tried to make it happen again by speeding (after checking my tires/suspension/linkage/driveshaft) and couldn't. A fluke? Or something I should have inspected?

Uh, maybe you could put them back on???? Did you think they were there just to make you look cool? These trucks are known for death wobble.
Im running OEM sized tires, I dont believe aftermarket stabilizers (not the one in the centre closer to the engine) are necessary. But maybe you are right. I did some searching and realized this is more common than I thought. Now im wondering if I should have everything looked at incase this wobble has caused failing of other parts... hmm.
You could get it checked out. It might make you feel better. I would be very surprised if one occurance of death wobble did any permanent damage. Your biggest concern is with it happening again, and it will if you don't get the stabilizers on there. The OEM stabilizer is marginally effective. I have no idea what your A/M units are, but I'll bet they are better than the OEM setup. Better stabilizers are often the solution to an OEM shortcoming.
I'v had the death wobble myself and it's not fun, it would really do it if I would hit some bumps and have the steering wheel a little to the left with the stock stabilizer,I put on some double stabilizers and now the steering wheel just shakes a little and stops. After inspecting underneath my trac bar bracket was a little lose as well. I would put something for a stabilizer under there to help out
you cant rely on the power steering system to keep the front tires from wobbling back and forth.once they get to wobbling its a chain reaction effect.they go one way, then the other while being assisted by the power steering system.definately put them back on.
Alright I guess majority wins, I will put them back on. Thanks for the replies guys.
I vote for putting them back on. I had the wobble on mine as well replace the steering stabilizer and all was well. The factory stabilizer was pretty worn out.
i have the duel stabilizer as well. what a diff. it makes. heres my question. should i have replaced the stock. cause none of the parts stores by me carry them. is it a dealer part. thanx in advance
Viper and bloodline, what A/M company did you go with for stabilizers? Mine are Rancho, but I noticed that they arent too expensive to replace, getting some 37X12.5X18 tires soon so wondering if I should "upgrade". BTW bloodline, I saw that Rancho sells an A/M stabilizer for the single OEM one.
