When i bought my truck last year it had a 4" lift kit already on it. I'm almost positive it's a pro-comp kit. Well the front springs are super stiff and the truck rides like a tank. I did some research and everyone i talked to said to go with donahoe racing springs (now called Icon Vehicle Dynamics) so i got my new springs yesterday and comparing them to my current springs, they are 3/4" thicker with two more leafs.
Now I'm just guessing here but wouldn't having two additional leafs make the new springs stiffer than the ones i already have? I'm thinking (and hoping) that the new springs just may have less of an arch, which explains the extra thickness of the spring, and would mean it would ride softer. any input appreciated! i'm planning on installing the springs on friday
The higher end packs like Icon use more leafs but a better material to keep a nice ride, the cheaper kits use less leaves but way stiffer material that rides like crap is what I understand.
Just got done with the spring install! WOW what a difference in ride quality! Feels a lot better than with the old pro-crap springs
install went pretty smoothly, didn't have to take off the bumper as some had mentioned, all it took was a little breaker bar and some leverage to get the frame bolts loose.
