i got an 88 ford with a 460 in it, and i got a heads off of a mid to late 70's era truck. will they fit on the later engine???? i also read some where to buy the timing chain set for a 1969 to 1972 as for did something to the timeing after 72' is there any truth to that??? thanks for your help....
Hey mort2000 welcome to fte. The heads on on a 88 are different if you have the efi. speed density air intake. The angle for the intakes are different from the carb. intakes. This is what I picked up in the big block forum. Havn't tried it myself. can't say on the timing chain I just installed a double roller on mine with no troubles ( it was labeled for an 88. there is lots of great info if you search the big block forum..
Both the intake and exhaust ports are not the same and won't line up.
Post '87 EFI engines already have a "straight up" timing, and it's a roller chain set to boot.
The 88 has a carb its not efi....the only difference I se in the early amdltintakes was earn bore pattern
The intake runners and everything look the same.............thanks for all the help
