So i've noticed in my mom's 95 aero (aprox. 110k, basic maint. done regularly, extended, eh when it needs it but not **** retentivly) and on my dad's old 94 that there is a lot of an oily substance that pools up in the intake manifold and gums up the MAF sensor. is this normal? what could cause this?
are the PCV's new and clean. dirty weak spring valve PCVs leak lots of extra crankcase fumes into the air intake system especially at idle when they should be closed. not enough air flow to sweep the fumes back into the engine.
broken cracked leaking air intake tube or fittings. leak gobs of dust road debris in. mix with a small quantity of PCV soup and one has a mess. also caused major engine wear.
broken cracked or plugged PCV tube preventing all the gases to be drawn out of the crankcase at road speed. buildup of crankcase crud and overload of PCV system.
home depot, lowes and harbor freight sell inline oil collection bottle systems in their air compressor sections. easy to adapt to PCV line use to collect the excessive oil before it does damage to intake system
DCRB-just spray some WD-40 or carbon cleaner inside the PCV valve. It will rattle around and then it is good. Takes alot for the spring to wear out. I still have the same one that was in it at 120 and now it is just shy of 200 G. I've cleaned it twice. Enjoy the weekend.--Bozzy
