Looking for pre formed exhaust system for my 50 f1 226 ci. Anyone know the best place to buy. any help would be appreciated.
If you are looking for a 100% factory orignal reproduction exhaust pre bent and everything. I would recomend the following company. I am going to get a stainless steel reproduction exhaust with factory style muffler for mine.
You can also get a upgraded stock looking muffler that has a performace tone.
They are orignal. I said they are factory reproduction of the exact exhaust system the factory used. I dont know what he is wanting to do if he wants factory exhaust or custom exhaut or what. He just said preformed and this company offers preformed.
Any real muffler shop should be able to duplicate the OEM style pipes. If I had a copy of the cards, it would not take anything for me to bend up a factory correct system. Most long standing shops should still have card files that go back this far. If there was much of a market for OEM style systems I would get some copies of the cards and knock a few sets out. Its easy to bend up a stock looking system that even clamps like originals. Unfortunately most shops dont care enough anymore to go to the trouble. I do like the looks of a clean stock system, especially with the coated tubing used these days.

I was going with stainless steel on mine since its a factory restoration. But in the 80`s the car had a new muffler put on. They screwed the exhaust all up. Instead of hooking it up to the exhaust ports through the bumpers they had pipes sticking out 5" under the bumper. So I have to get new to put it back to the through the bumper exhaust ports.

Rusty,
I'm looking for reproduction factory exhaust that is like the one that came on the truck.
Several of the repro places like Dennis Carpenter have replacement pre bent exhaust pipes like original, also have mufflers and clamps. For the 6 cyl just two pipes and a muffler and you are done. Forget taking it to a shop. I have bought several of these pre bent pipes both for the 6 and 8 cyl engines. I bought an extra set of pipes then cut and welded them back together to create a stock looking dual exhaust where the left side matches the stock right side. Am doing a similar thing right now building the exhaust for my panel truck.

Thats what I am going to do, I was going to get stainless steel and bolt it up but instead of using those leakprone muffler clamps I was going to weld everything up myself. Be cheaper though. $500 for the stainless steel factory style dual exhaust from that link I posted and a local exhaust shop quoted me at $900 for the same thing. Said something about having to have the car to form it to the vehicle.

I agree...back in the late '70's I worked as a bookeeper for a guy who had
several Midas shops and as I recall that included a very extensive collection of OEM data cards...

Thanks Mike
Ah ok, I would recomend that site cause after all I seen one of Jay leno`s cars with a reproduction exhaust put on and he interviewed a guy from the company and they claim that its so much like factory it will have the same exhaust tone. How ever I think it comes manderl bent. Offers them in aluminized steel or stainless steel.
