today i did my rear diff fluid with motorcraft gear oil i got from the dealer. tight as a drum with no leaks and i'm happy, good piece of mind. vent on the axle seemed clogged, (just a reminder for all ya)
well, while on my creeper i coasted up to the front while checking things out. as i went to grab my upper tie rod (the one with the adjusting sleeve) to pull myself forward i noticed it was "very" loose. both sides were gone. so off to the the store and $140 later i've got both left and right rods and the adjusting sleeve.
the exchange seems pretty staight forward but is there anythng else i should know other than (out with the old-in with the new) ??? thanks.
The obvious: alignment
Lube all the other fittings
And since you are in Mass. soak it for a long time before you start. I always see PB blaster and WD40 mentioned here but never ZEP. They have a product called Zep Preserve that makes the other stuff look like pi$$ water. I'll see if I can find a link somewhere.
thanks darrell, i did the ball joints back in the fall so one side of the rod's been off recently and shouldn't be a problem. the other i'll just have to see but i'll keep the "zep" in mind.
