I just swapped out the front bumper and grill on my 03' Ex for 05' parts. my issue is the bumper ends don't line up with the fender opening. I have a Eddie Bauer with the plastic flairs.
does anyone have this issue? or do I have the wrong bumper brackets or something?
The combo looks great. It's what I have been wanting to do, but could not find a good pic anywhere. Question though, to do this what parts did you need other that the bumper, grille and lights?
Thanks,
Additionally you just need a new Ford emblem (the old one is much smaller), and fog lights (the brackets are different) I have mine ordered and am waiting for delivery.
Also, If you want the grill to attach like the factory you will need to change the header panel for that of an 05'. I used the stock header and just made it work.
The center looks like the correct spacing, but the edges are turned up.
The two outrigger arms on each side control the edge. Loosen the four bolts, twist the back of the bumper down until you have a gap of about 5/8-3/4" and have someone tighten both bolts while you hold it. This will also send the top back further and line it up with the fender lines.
It took me forever to figure this out when I installed my upgraded front end. There is a lot more adjustment in the 05-07 than there was on the previous bumpers.
I tried to set the gap on the end/side brackets first. the gap looked great and then I tightened down the front bolts. Every time i tighten down the lower front bolts it just twists/pulls the ends up. I'll give it another try this weekend.

The four bolts on the frame rails have to be tightened first before attempting to adjust the sides.
With all eight bolts loose, center and level the front of the bumper. Tighten the four front bolts that hold it to the frame.
Then adjust each side. the L-Bar along the bottom from the bumper to the side of the frame controls the amount that the bumper end sticks out from the truck.
The weird brace from the lower part of the front of the bumper to the top side of the bumper controls the tilt of the bumper ends. this is the one that is giving you the problems and it should be the last bracket you tighten.
I've had my '07 bumper on and off a half dozen times for various repairs and that order is the only way I've been able to get the adjustments perfect.
If you leave the front bolts loose, it will always mess up the side adjustments when you tighten the front bolts.
