Enamel is fine for the frame.Imron is even better-but expensive and stinky_ha ha!!I like to use CHASSIS-SAVER brand for frame and rust areas,and on the current project-the whole truck.
I've just been using black spray paint on the undercarriages of my trucks. It's inexpensive and easy to work with. It does need to be touched up every couple of years, though.
If you're building a show truck, even if you're not, powder coating is flat out the most durable and chip/scratch resistant way to go. An enamel will work just fine and Imron is some pretty durable stuff, just make sure you have a brand new mask and get ready to throw it away when you're done. lol
