CDR bypass...sort of

I hope this works. I removed the cdr valve and welded a short peice of pipe to the outlet, and a peice of 1/8" rubber to other side (to seal the intake opening). I made two spacertubes of aluminum pipe and studs from 5/16" allthread to bolt it back into place. I then drilled a hole 3/4" in the side of square part of the air filter houseing and made a nipple out of pipe with a flat washer welded to one end and and rubber washer (for a water seal). This projects out of the housing (back towards the firewall) with a shaft collar to hold it. I connected this to the pipe on the cdr with clear tubeing (so I can monitor the amount of oil in the tube). I have noticed very little oil making it up the tube to the housing and any that does should be caught by the foam wrap on the filter element. It does still allow the motor to burn off the smokey discharge from the motor but it should even out the distribution of these gasses to all 8 cyclinders and any oil that makes it in as well. I plan to check the filter every time I change oil, about 2500 miles, and clean it as needed. What do you guys think will this work, or has this idea been tried and found wanting lol?
