Has anyone got any tips on how to get to and replace the power steering hoses.
How much hassle is it to pull the inner fender.
My hands and wrists are all busted up and I just can't shove them where I used to. (and no comments about where they've been, cause ya wouldn't wanna know!)
Why do you want to pull the inner fenders? My 86 460 4x4 the hardest hose was the return hose to the pump. It was a tight squeeze as I remember, the pressure hose was easy to get to. Haven't messed with the diesels so maybe I'm missing something.
Heck I'm getting to the age & like you all busted up that I will pay someone to do the stuff I can't or don't want to do. I never thought I would pay someone to fix stuff for me but being old & busted up has changed my thought pattern.

When I was installing the hydroboost in my truck I did everything from over the fender, there was plenty access to the steering gear box from the engine bay. You should be using "brake line" type of wrenches (boxed end with a slot for the line to pass through), and in case the fitting in the gear box is pretty seized up you can always put some leverage on the wrench, also heating the steering box with a torch around the fitting should help as well.
I can't even get my hands on the return line let alone put it on! It'll probably fall off if I loosen the clamp. It is about 2 times it's normal size.
I also need to replace the steering coupler, so inner fender removal would make it a lot easier. I looked it over pretty good today, I'm not pulling the inner fender yet, It'll be a chore.
Yea, I ain't sticking no torch in there, I am trying to fix it not burn it!
Way to much oil for torch use.
