20+ years of a tachometer that works when it wants to was cured this weekend with 1 hour of work. I can't take credit for figuring it out so here is to Eddiec1564! You are THE MAN!

I cleaned off the browning yellow glue and resoldered some cold joints and that took care of that problem. Since then I fixed about 5 tachs for the same thing. Funny thing is Mitsubishi TV's of the late 80's/ early 90's had the same yellow glue that browns up and causes all types of problems...
I will add, my glue was still quite plyable (sp?). It was in 4 locations on the board (which I left attached to the tach) all around the tall green inductors (I think). I used a small curved pick to get the glue off the board and away from the legs of the component. I didn't clean the board afterwards, nor did I have any cold solder joints, just reinstalled and it has yet to fail.
Man I love a working tach! My dash is back to normal!!!!!
