Bees

For some reason, they seem to like building hives at our house. A few years ago we had to have a guy come out and remove a hive from the backyard, and I've got a guy coming out today to remove another one that the little buggers have been building in a stack of used brick I've been stockpiling for an upcoming (someday) BBQ project.

I don't know why they like our house. Maybe it's the Guava tree.

That's about 5 bees per dink, Brady - good job!

Here's a pic from as close as I care to get:

That wouldn't be something to hope for.

I'm interested to see how they do this. Last time the guy that came out to remove them was wearing shorts and sandals. He was an interesting dude. Kind of a Popeye-looking character. I asked him if he was going to put on a suit or something and he said "no, I only do that when it's serious".

He was scooping bees out of that metal locker with his hands, and putting them into a big Hefty trash bag. He didn't even get stung.Too bad he isn't around anymore - I'd have hired him again in a heartbeat.

I don't mind a few bees. They assure me I will have plenty of Nectarines and Oranges. But when they get like this, they have to go. My main concern is I don't want the things to get all riled up and attack the dog.

Not even - only about 6 lol.

That's just a small part of the entire stack - leftovers from jobs on some that I've salvaged. I'll get to it someday.

i destroyed about a hundred bees on the freeway the other day also, only my windows were open when i drove through a literal cloud of them, and my arm was out the window, when i realized what i was driving through i just ducked and covered in the truck till i heard it stop, i was looking out the windshield through the center of the truck cuz there wasnt time to put the windows up...that was not so fun, but steve you should let them "bee" and then sell citrus honey, all i see in the grocery store is clover honey!

Citrus and Sage honey are delicious.

So is steak, but I don't want to keep any cattle in the back yard.

Good point. They haven't called for an appointment, either.

Steve if those grey bricks get in the way of the red bricks just let me know. I want the BBQ and fire pit made of grey bricks. By the way I need an estimate on a wall if you consider coming out to my place to do some work. I can get you the size of the wall tonight. But I think it is around 70' long by 5' tall, grey slump stone. Just waiting on the tax return.

Ah - you have an eye for quality, my friend. What you are looking at there is a 12" Single Bull Nose Dark Iron Spot from Pacific Clay Products of Lake Elsinore, California. You can have as many of those as you want for only about $3.25 a piece

They're good brick, though. Consistent size and quality, and very hard.
