I'm planning on painting my 78 Bronco soon, and was wondering how to remove the side cowl emblems(Bronco, Ranger, XLT) on it. I'm afraid to just start prying and maybe break one. Thanks. Don

Hi,
when I did my '79 F150, I pried them (very carefully) with a screwdriver just a tiny bitat a time, alternating from one end, to middle, then the other end. I kept doing this a little at a time until it stuck out far enough to grab and "jiggle" out by hand. What I found was small hard rubber grommets that hold the emblem pins in by friction. Hope this helps you.

Use a body filler spatula. Slide it under and work it back and forth using a saw cutting motion. If it is held with a mechanical fastner you may gently pry up - but never in the same spot. Always try to apply even pressure around the emblem, the process used is like putting tire nuts on - work around the wheel using consistant pressure. Now, if it is held on using a chemical bond (two way tape) use the cutting action to remove the emblem.
