Steering Misalignment Questions

What causes the steering wheel to become mis-aligned from the direction the vehicle should be going in? How easily is this kind of stuff fixed? Is just basic alignment that can be adjusted at the steering wheel itself or does it mean things are messed up in the steering components, or both?

Those are my many questions of the day.

It will move off center if you put a lift in it or you knock it out of alignment, other than something bent it should not be crooked. If you look under your truck there is a collar with two bolts on the steering arm near the pitman arm, get your wheels straight and loosen that collar, turn key on so the steering wheel will move and adjust collar till wheel is straight.

Thanks. I don't actually have a truck yet but several of the ones I have looked at seem to suffer from this issue. Seems like an easy fix.
