I was just on the ford buildatruck site, no drw available for the '08 f250
I know everyone here likes the old trucks, but the Ford site were you can build your own truck is very interesting if you play around with it. The options are not the same as the older trucks, but it's interesting to see what Ford engineering deems a useful truck that will perform.
For instance, I built a diesel pickup and it had a 5 speed auto overdrive and 3.55 gears. When I decided to change the tranny to the 6 speed manual, it would not let me have the 3.55, I had to move up to the 3.73.
I then started messing around with the rearend. I used the same truck above, but changed to a dually, and it would not let me go below a 4.10 rear. If I remember correctly, even with a automatic, it would not let me go below a 4.10 rear.
That was just a few of the things I experimented around with. When you think about all the different combos that are put together by the backyard mechanic building a older truck, it makes you wonder are you building a truck that won't be useful, or are you doing something the Ford engineers were too chicken to try out?
I would change to the newer F350 badges, a buddy of mine with a 94 (looks real similar to your truck) and put badges from an 07 F350 and they look real good.
I bet that truck was wrecked cuz that is also a bed from a 92-97
Thanks. Not wrecked though old clip was ate up by rust (from what I was told). My best guess from looking at it is a early-mid 90 front clip, bed, and frame with an 84' drivetrain and cab.
Ford has never built a F250 dually, and still doesn't, and they most definitley didn't build an 86 F250 ex cab 4x4 dually. Only F350's are built with high enough GVWR and GAWR ratings to justify a dual rear wheel setup. All dually F250's are non factory built. I believe Centurion may have done some conversions that were sold through dealers(been a while since I read stuff on them tho) but they were not factory built.
Are we talking semantics here.
It's Built (Or commissioned to be built) By Ford
It's Sold by Ford
And the Parts are sold by Ford!
I really would like to understand what you base this on!
If you could find that read, I would really enjoy reading it.
What I base this on is it was not built by Ford or available from Ford, but was available through an aftermarket company and select dealers. All F250's left the factory as SRW trucks.
The parts are sold by Ford as they're the same parts you'd find on a dually F350. Just out of curiosity, what size are the rear brakes on your dually F250? 12x3, or 12x3.5"?

I have no clue, I have only had this truck for a couple weeks and I have yet to pull the drums.
I really would like to read the facts, If you could point me to this information it would be greatly appreciated.
