Question 5th Wheel lift?

I am looking to upgrade from stock wheels and tires on my 06 F350 to aftermarket. My issue is what would my limit be on tire size/ lift/ leveling kit before I lose my fifth wheel capabilities? I have heard that I could put a 33" tire on and not have to worry about lifting it. I would like to go around 35" if that is possible. I was also told that if I go with a 35" tire that I would have to lift it about 3" for clearance. Thanks for any help.

It really depends on your trailer and where you drive. The v portion of the trailer needs a couple of inches of clearance, more if you deal with a lot of hills or inclined driveways. It would also depend if your trailer had an adjustable king pin.

You could possibly lift the trailer too. Either different springs, bigger tires or both.

A guy I work with just flipped the springs on his 5th wheel to get it higher... IDK how or how safe that is, I just recall him being out in the bay the whole shift doing it... lol.

I had a 26 foot Springdale fifth wheel for 5 years and have always run 285/75's. Didn't need to do anything to the trailer. Dealer said they setup the trailer heights for Ford and Dodges and can lower them if necessary for Chevy's.

Go to RV.net then to their Open Roads Forum. Loads of informed folks willing to help there. They have forums for fifth wheels and for towing along with a couple dozen others.
