EGT probe

I have a 2007 6.0 and just purchased the bullydog pmt chip that includes an egt probe. I was curious about where to install my EGT probe. Pictures would be great! Also what temps are safe and unsafe to be at? Thanks!!

Subscribed! I have an EGT probe that came with my SCT Livewire and would like to know as well. I know that EGT's are more applicable to diesel engines than gas engines but I still want to install mine since it may help the SCT Livewire tune better.

Welcome to FTE!

The 6.0L forum has a bunch of threads on installing the EGT probe. I would recommend going down there and doing a search.

Most people install them near the rear of the driver side exhaust manifold.

Welcome to FTE. As stated, the common place is the rear side of the drivers exhaust manifold. Some probes come with brackets to be installed on the up-pipes (diesel only), but drilling and tapping the manifold is the most common install method. You want to see pre-turbo readings on your gauge, usually around 1200 deg F or less.
